Do you shoot film?
While I do love film- it's what I grew up shooting, after all- I do not currently incorporate film into my wedding work. I do, however, integrate some of my vintage lenses from my medium format film cameras whenever possible.
What kind of camera do you use?
I currently use two systems: Hasselblad X1D 50-c and Nikon D850. The Hasselblad is a digital medium format camera, meaning the sensor is 70% larger than a standard professional full frame SLR camera. It creates breathtaking, detailed images, with a wide dynamic range, so it is what I use during the slower paced portions of the day. The Nikon is a professional full frame camera, so it can take photos at a much faster rate. As a result, when I'm shooting the parts of the event where there is a lot happening quickly (for example, during dancing or processions, or pretty much any time there are young kids involved), I use my Nikon. I then personally edit all of the images (including those from my second photographer) to make the colors cohesive. The end result is a gallery filled with beautiful images of your memories!
Do you bring backup?
Yes I do! I bring at least one backup camera body, in addition to the two bodies with which I'm actively shooting, and I bring two backup flashes in addition to the flashes I'm actively using. I also bring lots and lots of batteries, memory cards, and even my chargers so that if I'm nervous about running low on battery power, I can charge any that are running low during the reception.
